Eruption Case Study - Krakatoa

As part of their Geography IGCSE course, form 4 have been studying famous volcanic eruptions that would serve as good case studies for their final exam. Below is a well researched case study of Krakatoa in Indonesia by Macy.

Krakatoa erupted in 1883 and was one of the most deadly eruptions in history. Let Macy tell you more...

  1. Form 4. Remember part of your homework this week is to look at both of these case studies and make a comment. The first half of the comment will be a constructive criticism (where it could have been better). The second half is where you thought it was good and why.

    1. I felt like I couldve wrote more on the human response in detail and then bulletpoint it.I also personalized my own diagram and label it next time. to show the process of a volcano eruption and how it works.

  2. It could have been better if there is a clear diagram of how the volcano formed as the diagram in here is not specifically for the case study. But, I think the case study is good because it gives a lot of descriptions about the volcano and the impacts (primary and secondary).

  3. It would be better if there is picture or diagram for how Krakatoa was formed.
But overall, it is very good to read and understand.

  4. It would have been better if only the picture/diagram about how the volcano is formed is for Krakatoa, she could have edited the pictures making it specifically for Krakatoa.
I personally think her case study is better than mine because she describe the features of Krakatoa clearly. She even grouped the impacts of the volcano into social, environmental and economic impacts.

  5. It would be better if there was a diagram of how Krakatoa was formed. This is a really good case study, its very descriptive about the volcano, what happened there, secondary and primary impacts and even social, environmental and economic impacts were well descriptive.

  6. It can be improved by adding a personalised diagram, labelling the diagram with a real life case study and features of the volcano. Also, you could have added a diagram to show how Krakatoa was formed. Otherwise, I thought this was a good piece of work, containing clear and concise information of the Krakatoa case study. - Brittany

  7. It would significantly improve your case study if you had given a better/clearer explanation of how the volcano(Krakatoa)itself was formed, i think overall this piece of work is worth the mention of being the best work in class around. -Patrick

  8. Even better if you show which area did the sulfur dioxide effect the country first than just a picture when are the sulfur dioxide is spread out

  9. it could be better if you added clearer diagrams and an actual photograph of the volcano. This case study has a lot of useful information and i especially like the Primary and Secondary impacts listed.
Thanks Macy c: I really like your work and this really helped me understand the whole topic better overall.

  11. Macy its really good. I like the way the country has the longitude and latitude, it is really detail for a case study. However u can still put some bullet below the big bulllet point saying thats how the the each step is formed by described it. I think overall is good.

  12. The diagram can be clearer and made exclusive for Krakatoa, the primary and secondary impacts are very detailed and informative.

  14. 1)It would be better if you drew out an actual diagram and put a picture of Krakatoa being formed.
2)I like your bullet points listed and they really helped me out a lot.

  16. 1) It would have been better if you personalised your own diagrams and added more detail towards the formation of the volcano

    2) The points and explanation were easy to read and understand

  17. It would've been better if you added your own diagrams. The fact that you grouped social, economic and environmental impacts makes it much easier to understand and extract points.
